Green Hydno ?

I won a green hydno frag at the last meeting. It seemed to be doing well but I noticed that it is starting to turn a yellow brown color. I would say only 1/3 is still green. It was half way up the rocks. I have a 75 gallon tank, 2 VHO and 2 175w MH. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would try moving it down a bit, I have 2 different hydno's and they are both well away from the light.

I'm not sure it is the amount of light it is receiving. I have mine up high in my 90 gallon tank under a 250w MH 14K Phoenix bulb with 2 x 110 VHO Super Actinics. I've had it over two years now and it is growing well. I've never heard of a hydno turning yellow brown but it doesn't sound healthy. This coral is pretty hardy IME. You might want to consider fragging off a healthy piece and mounting it somewhere else in the tank. What do you have around it and is it receiving direct flow or little flow? What else is in your tank and when was the last time you tested water conditions?

Here's an old pic of mine-

I have 4 strains (5?) of hydno. 3 of them are shades of green. One is green & brown, one is very bright green and the third is a lighter green. You may have the green/brown colony v. the bright green colony? A picture might help.

I will try and get a pic later. I plan to test my parameters and do a water change this weekend. Also, this was bright green when I got it. The only thing I can think of is that the sweepers from my Torch Coral touched it but that would be around 3 or 4 inches away. Either way I moved it to th bottom next to some shrooms for now.

My torch really hurts things it touches.
