Guests!

So what’s up will all these “guests” on our site? Is that number for real? Is anyone else sort of bugged by this number? As Jerry Seinfeld would say, “Who are these people?” The old site would typically only show a few guests.

Is this all these tapatalk people tapping away?

They all heard there is a happening new forum on the block and coming to experience it firsthand!


Everytime someone views the site they are considered a guest until logged in. I had to set the time out period to 60 minutes because we were getting booted before we could finish a post. After the person logs in they still show as a guest as well as a user until the list refreshes. In other words a lot of our users were guests moments earlier as they logged in so that number is somewhat skewed. I hope you understand this! LOL

That as well as the spammers give you the numbers you see.

Since the guests are not “logged in,” they shouldn’t have posting rights, so their “time out” should be set to zero…..or am I missing something with that explanation….George, I only have a little sense.

They have no posting rights as guest...The time out setting is for the entire board, not settable by usergroup. unfortunately the online users module seems to use that same time out setting. I'd love to lower that setting, but for slow winded posters/typers like myself it gives sufficient time to type and post!
