The minute and hour setting are for the reverse flow timing. So you can have the pump run one way for a set amount of time and then in the reverse for a set amount of time. I found the manual online which explains all the modes.

Thanks for the pdf, I've been trying to set the time and this helps. The more I use this the more I like it.
Granted I have been running it for less than 24, but overall I really do like it. I have it positioned vertically on the back wall next to my overflow (to the left) because that is where I was getting dead sposts. In theory this will help keep stuff from settling in the back of the tank and kick it right into the overlow (or at least keep in in the front right corner where I can easily get at it). Being able to place this pump virtually anywhere you want is already a big plus and it might actually be hidden once the live rock is back in so that is cool. I can also run another pump where my MP60 is now which will just help move everything down the tank that way which will be pretty cool. I turned the mp60 down even further from where I had it to keep the sand from blowing around.
This is pump is STRONG, it puts out a lot of flow and I am no where near 100%. If you have a smaller tank I would recommend to wait until January until they put out that smaller model. I was going to get the current model for my frag tank, but I might wait and see what the smaller one looks like. If you have a bigger tank, I would recommend this pump (again short time period). Really happy with flow and the "gyre" effect going around the tank.
If you have thicker glass, get the magnet upgrade kit (3/4 inch plus). Going back to the power of this pump, with the original magnets we turned the pump up and it torqued and pulled itself right off the glass. Luckily I have some extra heavy duty magnets laying around from frag racks, so we were able to put on heavier magnets and get the thing running.
There is a slight hum when this thing is going heavy, much less than my mp60, but there is some noise. I dont' know if this is just my pump or how I have it setup or if it has to be broken in. No idea but just a comment I had (and so did Ethan who was setting it up with me). This does not downgrade the pump for me at all, as I said the mp60 is much louder but I want to speak with full honesty.
Again first impression is very strong and I will update some more. I would take pics/vids but I have no liverock in the tank and just a few pieces of coral. If anything changes I will update and also take pics when the tank it back to normal.

Yup, exploring a move or addition/ lower story reconfiguration. Prob not till next yr. Architect is finishing stage 1, will look at costs. I like it here but wife and daughter are tired of the woods and privacy. Both would like a development with neighbors so close you can do grey pupon commercials. Either way tank has to come down. Que garne!

How is the cloud of detritis coming off your rocks?
We're currently in the middle of an addition/Kitchen renovation, so during the planning process my 1 requirement to the architect and Kitchen designer was for a new larger tank. I think that was a fair trade, new kitchen for a new tank!!
I just broke down and order one to play around with. I have the Tunze for the new tank which I still plan to use given the noise factor. I'm reading the Gyre is not as loud a a MP but louder then a Tunze.
