Heater cracked!

Checked my tank temp today and it was only 72. Looked at the heater and it was set to 76 and the light wasn't on. After checking to see if it was plugged in I took it out to inspect to find water in it. I hope I didn't hurt anything. I have a 75w stealth heater in there for now. Hope it can keep up.

This happened to me when I was using a glass heater, couldn't figure out why the GFCI continued to trip. Do you have one, it probably saved my life.

invest in a biotherm heater, and hook it up to a biotherm controller or single stage ranco. its worth the investment. some reviews on reef central are poor for the biotherm, stating that when the power goes out they reset to 90 degrees and fry your tank, but ive unplugged them then plugged them in to simulate a power outtage to see what happens and it resets to the temp you set it at. they work like a charm, just make sure you get a grounding probe to take that voltage out of the water. its worth it in the long run.

Have you tested your GFCI? It worries me that the heater breaking didn't cause it to trip.

Yeah the GFCI works fine.. IDK what happened. The heater wasn't completely full of water i guess I caught it just in time. IDK. Anyway, the 75w heater seems to be working fine for the tank. I might just leave that one in there.
