Hello everyone

My name is Joe and I live in Plainsboro. I just purchased my first salt water tank 3 weeks ago, a 24 gallon nanocube. SO far so good. 2 of my friends gave me a buch on rock and live sand, and I used boxed water to fill'er up. So far I have a maroon clown, purple psuedo, sixline wrasse, and a cleaner shrimp. For corals I have a torch, xenia, blasto, and zoo's. The tank looks great so far but I am itching to add a few more coral pieces. The store I have been going to is Aquatic Obsession in avenel, but today I am going to head to Hamilton and check out All Aquatics. If anyone has a recomendation for a local store near Plainsboro/Princeton please let me know. I will add a few pics to this thread later on to get some advice/tips from some pros!

Thanks guys. My friends have both made a ton of mistakes so they have been telling me some "what not to do's". I am active duty in the military (US Coast Guard) so there are nights when i am on duty and cant watch the tank and it kills me haha. My wife has been keeping me up to date. the recent thing thats bothering me is I bought a sixline wrasse 2 days ago, aclimated it for almost 2 hours, put him in and havent seen him since. Yesterday i saw its head pop out but he went back into hiding. Is this normal?

Hope this works...

Hi and welcome to NJRC. As everyone else has said, don't heistate to ask any questions. There are a ton of really friendly and knowledgeable people here.

The tanks looks like it's off to a great start. Hopefully you're keeping an eye on all of your parameters and making sure they all stay in check. I wouldn't write the sixline off just yet. A lot of fish will hide out for a while before they get comfortable.

Welcome again and keep the updates coming!

Thanks John, I have a ton of pics but didnt want to put them all on here lol. Every day I snap a different shot. The psuedo and clown are very photogenic

photos are always welcome.... ;D

thanks for serving!

oh and word of caution on the xenia - it can grow into plaguelike proportions - so if you want to be able to remove/extract it later, it's not a bad idea to place some small LR next to it.

Welcome to NJRC...your tank is starting to look great! You mention its been about 2 weeks since you have setup your nano tank. Its seem your desperate to get your tank stocked up with fish and corals to look beautiful....LOL..we ALL do.
A friendly advise..you should have let your tank go through a complete cycle just with only your prepared water, LS & LR. Doing weekly water changes and checking your parimeters, making sure is where you want it to be.
Then add one fish and wait, making sure your fish looks healthy after a few weeks. The same thing when putting corals. This hobby is addictive...LOL and not cheap!

Here is a recommendation, don't add anymore live stock, wait at least a month. Its good to start slow, and enjoy the end results. Don't rush it, in time your tank will look fantastic. This is a great place to get information and there is numerous great people here who will give you great advice. I've learned so much in the past 2 years and still learning more about this great hobby.
