HELP! Ich?

Hi Everyone,

I need your help ... I have an expolosion of what I think is ich after four years in a 75 gall on FOWLR tank ... This am though I woke up to find the glass covered with tiny little white creatures crawling all over it ??? Is that ich?

My fish are covered with these small little white spots ....

I am presently treating the tank with STOP Parasites twice a day ....

Temp is 84

SG is 1.022 and trying to drop it slowly tanking 5g out a day and replacing with RO ...

Any help or experiece would be much appreciated!

Thanks Al

Nothing on your glass is ich (pods probably). If your fish have white spots on them then THAT could be ich. If the tank has live rock in it, dropping the SG will kill off your bio-capabilities and cause your tank to cycle, so be careful about doing that. Increase the quantity and quality (if you're feeding flake you should use frozen) of your feedings, use garlic and vitamins mixed with the food to boost the fish immunity. Ich will "come and go" getting better and worse. If you drop your tank temp a few degrees (78 but slowly) the ich will cycle slower and the fish will have an easier time fighting it off.

Well there are many opinions on this subject. I would not be worried about things on the glass but on the fish is another story. If it is indeed ich you had to introduce it to the tank on something and now that it is in the tank the only way to get rid of it is leaving your main tank fallow (no fish at all) for 12 weeks. As mentioned ich will come and go but eventually will increase its numbers and do a great deal of harm to your fish. In my opinion treating the fish in a seperate tank with copper is the way to go. You can not use Hypo in your main tank unless its a fish only with no inverts or live rock. Lowering the salinity to anything other than 1.008 is not going to do anything to the parasite. Lower salinity does help the fish with breathing but not with the parasite.

Good Luck....I have been thru it all.....OH and Reef safe products are a WASTE of money
