Help with RODI Buddy Pump please

Dave, MrX, think you guys mentioned you run them.
For you, and anyone else - When using the pump and your storage container is full, do your pump cycle on and off every few seconds?
I thought I had a bad pump, customer service (customer service at AL is fantastic) sent me another. I hooked it up, and same thing. When my float valve tells the pump that the container is full, it goes into an on/off thing every few seconds.
Ive double and triple check connections, added check valves, and then watch vids on how to hook it up from scratch (and did it twice - was the same as I had already had it hooked up), and no dice.
I'm now wondering if this is normal for the unit.

A float valve can’t hold the pressure to keep it off. As pressure escapes, it turns back on. I use two optical sensors to turn it on and off. One when 10 gallons have been used, off when it’s full. You don’t want it turning on and off. You’ll end up with tds NOT being zero in your water.

Mine does exactly this. Its not the float valve leaking though as I've let it go several days to see if water overfills. It doesn't.
But yes it clicks and some water escapes via waste line. Basically i just unplug the unit and turn a couple of valves to shut it down and plug it back in next time I'm ready to make water.


If I remember, I'll make water in the morning and record what the sound is like to see if its the same

Mine does it to but will stop eventually and turn off.

Yeah, I do use a float switch and it did turn off after an hour, hasn't come back on since.
On the defective unit I completely shut the line down and it still kept 'dry' cycling through till the next morning.
So new one is good and producing RODI like mad (seriously, its insane, I may have to measure as I must be near 1:1).

And, on that note, a word about the customer service at AL...
I contacted the customer support unit via e-mail and was communicating with ‘Dave’. Over 2-3 days responses to any questions or concerns were answered within the hour. Post 'over-phone diagnostics' a new part was sent to me and arrived within 48 hours. When the new part failed to correct the problem a new unit was tested at warehouse and sent FedEx with a return label as they told me I should keep the unit I had to produce water until the new unit arrived.
All in all a very good customer service experience, A+
