How to close hole in copper pipe?

Hey everyone....when I installed my RO system many years ago I punctured the cold water copper pipe. Now that I want to remove the RO unit, how do I close up the hole in the copper pipe?

Just cut the piece out and add a shark bite coupling. Done and done.
They can be had at HD and lowes and do not break code

+1. Those things are amazing. Used one to fix a pinhole leak in a 3/4 water main in a bind.

make sure to close any valves or turn the water off before you cut the copper. if you know a plumber it takes about 10 minutes to drain the pipe and $2 for a copper coupling. the trick to soldering it is to use flux, and make sure there is no water in the pipe so the solder can seal the connections.

An old trick I learned is to stuff a bit of wonder bread to soak up the water which might prevent the solder from taking to the pipe. It works great and the water pressure will basically wash it away.

And don't use the crust.

You could also just leave the saddle valve on the pipe and close it. They also make a solid cap you can put on the end of the valve. This is the easiest.

+1 you don't to play with pipes, if you don't know what you're doing and move the pipe the wrong way you could cause a leak somewhere down the line.
