Currently I am using a 2X 250w DE Halide's with Phoenix 14K's and ATI Blue+ bulbs that are like a month old at the max. Current USA Fixture
I just got finished building a beautiful canopy. I am all gung-ho to try out LED's BUT I am a little hesitant at the moment. MY Halide fixture does not fit INTO my canopy WELL but it can be made to fit.
I got a pending deal on Lumenarc Stealth III DE 250w Reflectors X 2 + 1 Lumatek Select-A-Watt Ballast for $200 bucks.
My Tank is 48 Long 28 High and 24 Wide.
The current fixture's light is very concentrated and does not evenly Spread across the tank to the point where i can definitely see a CONE in the middle of the tank. I have a chiller now and I'm confident that with my new canopy and FAN mounting options that I can air cool the tank through the majority of the winter and the Chiller would only have to come on during the HOTTEST months of the summer. Do you think the Lumenarc's are a good buy? I figure waiting until next year to see how the LED craziness pans out would be in my best interest. Also around tax/bonus time I would have the disposable income to dabble in LED's.
