I need wave action!

Your older Koralias were not meant to be turned on and off repeatedly.

The other point is that you shouldn't be fooled by the term "wave." A stand-alone powerhead does not produce a wave. It will turn on and off and provide alternating flow, but no wave. I am not familiar with the JBJ's you reference, but at one time I had the newer Koralia Evolutions, and I was disappointed with their "wave" mode.

I use the jbj with the controller and really like it. Great for the money. In my 40 breeder I use a large and small one and it gives great swishing action. You'll be happy with them for sure. With your tank I'd get the large pair

If you can put the power head in a box -- the wave action will come...
let me try to find my old thread regarding this topic

This seems to be common as I was reading mediocre reviews of the Koralia wavemaker..

How long have you had this set up?

Found it - http://www.njreefers.org/showthread.php?62645-WaveMaker-made-easy&highlight=Wave+maker+easy

you don't need to read the whole thing... Just read the 2nd URL that point to reef central regrading how to make a wavebox.

-enjoy!
Thanks for digging up that thread. I can't fit the box into my DT, not so sure I like the looks of it either. I just think I could get better random flow without spending an arm and a leg, ya know?

- you can *try* to keep the boxed clear - but over time, the algae will still grow on inside...
- i was using my for about 4 months and i remove it - reason being: i don't see much improvement on the corals and the noise of stop and start are very annoying...

I've had the jbj for over a year. I started with the small set for a cube and ordered an extra pump but the bigger one. If you want to see them in action, ill get a short vid of my tank and post it in this thread when my lights come on.

I already pulled the trigger on these last night, but a video is always cool.

Don't know why the link won't work. I took a minute vid. If you wanna see it, check photobucket under twistedreefer. Last one uploaded

Pumps arrived and are installed! So far I like them. They are quiet and give a nice spread flow. I'm not so sure of the 1600gph flow rate, seems less. I think I made a good choice!

Here is a short "review" of the JBJ Oceanstream.
