Injured Bird on my driveway

My wife mentioned to me there was a bird on the driveway and to be careful coming home. Sure enough there was a species of dove (sorry i am not a bird expert)- it looks like one of these

Band-tailed Pigeon Columba fasciata
Common Ground-Dove Columbina passerina
Eurasian Collared-Dove Streptopelia decaocto
Mourning Dove Zenaida macroura
White-winged Dove Zenaida asiatica

Anyways - I'm going to try and hold it safe tonight indoors. The wings look ok - but for some reason it did not try to escape me when I grabbed it. Again I'm no expert so maybe both wings are messed up but i can't tell. One eye does look strange - like puffy or damaged somehow.

Tomorrow it's off to Raptor Trust

At least this bird has a chance. Not like that flock that hit the US Airways plane over the hudson river!

hope you wore gloves "grabbing it" i believe these things carry diseases and the doves always hit the high wire behind my house while flying. im sure you have a electrical wire above your sidewalk, maybe he crashed into that

Maybe you can ask Dr. Jim about it...he's works at a Bird Hospital after all.

Phil, how's the dove? I'm a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, so please don't hesitate to call me or get in touch with me next time you (or anyone else) finds a wild bird in "need". Birds...that's what I do. :)

The good news is it survived the night. It is a Mourning Dove. After placing it last night in the box, I dare not open it again for fear of further stressing it. I was scared it was dead but it cooed last night and make some bird sounds. This morning, prior to work I took the box and drove it to Raptor Trust north of my workplace. The place is on located on federal property - called the Great Swamp...7,735 acres.

The lady took the bird and asked me to fill out a form and that was it. I had to rush to work after that so I don't know the disposition of the bird. Maybe they will call me.
