Interesting Website on Caulerpa Invasive Species in California

SCCAT.NET

I know we're here in NJ - but it would seem to me that if we are to be impactful as a group in this hobby, then we can at least educate others of the potential problems aquarists pose to the environment.

9 banned species of Caulerpa in California:
taxifolia (feather)
racemosa (grape)
ashmeadii
cupressoides
floridana
mexicana
sertulariodes
scapelliformis
verticillata

I have read that most caulerpa is illegal in California. I guess with the warm waters off the coast there it grows like a weed

What warmer waters off the coast of CA? The costal water is very cold compared to what you find off the NJ coast.

The problem is areas in places like San Francisco Bay, where the water tamps can get a lot higher.

The main problem was C. Taxifolia, and I believe they have eradicated the problem for now.

I do agree with them banning the other species. There are far too many people that release non-native species into the environment. This should never ever be done.
