Last tang

Today I'm going tang shopping for my last one for the tank.
Current larger fish are
Orange shoulder tang
Hippo tang
Yellow tang
Copperband butterfly
The rest are chromis, anthias clowns...
The ones I'm thinking are these
Clown tang
Powder blue
Sailfin
Unicorn
I'm more partial to the powder and even more the clown
Any thoughts?

Clown tang is my favorite but gets large.
Powder Blue's are nice too; have you considered a Powder Brown?

Only because of size? I do plan one more upgrade to a 300 when we do our addition next year. The clown I'm looking at is about 4". I like both alot and would be happy with either but if size down the road is the only issue, I'm not too worried.

Just remember that the clown tangs get very very aggressive. The PB are very delicate and prone to ich.
Both are beautiful fish though :)

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I've wanted a clown for a while but was told it should b the last tang to add. Until my orange shoulder gets its adult colors back it's been a favorite. But the powders have too. Ugh.... Decisions

That's the only reason I threw up this thread. The aggressive word. I've read they are more aggressive with less swimming room. My tank is pretty open and if I had to take it out, lol that would give me a reason to remove my flame angel and red coris too

Tough call. I like the clown and the powder blue/brown tangs almost equally. Sorry I wasn't any help, but I can sympathise with your predicament in deciding, lol.

DO NOT get a clown tang. They are the most aggressive evil fish ever!! I had one and was finally able to capture and remove it. I named him Satan. BTW he was in a 260. LOL

I would avoid the clown and the unicorn. Unicorns get very large and would be even too big for a 300g. Trop has one in their 1600 FOWLR and that is probably the proper size tank. Clowns and sohals get very very very aggressive and can kill other fish with ease.

Powder blue or the sailfin would be nice.

I would hate to have to decide on PB or clown..the clown can be aggressive for a fact and I found to be finicky eaters too.I really like the PB's and will eventually add one to my crew, but I found they usually dont ship well.If I was you I'd just get both...lol keep us posted on what you decide.

No interest in a Kole or Purple?

A kole would be a nice smaller sized tang. In fact kole tangs and yellow tangs are frequently seen together in the wild around the hawaiian islands.

Actually so are achilles tangs for that matter.

While I try not to disagree with die-hard jets fans (there's no hope in changing their minds...hahaha), I would avoid the purple only because it's from the same genus - Zebrasoma.

Achilles/Clown/Powder blue/brown tangs are part of the Acanthurus genus
Kole tangs are part of the genus
Ctenochaetus .

Speaking of which a Chevron Tang is nice too (
Ctenochaetus).

Well my trip is complete. Soooooo....... What's the worst case scenario for a tang trip.......lol
