Leaking Sump

My 70+ gallon acrylic sump is leaking. :(. It has been leaking for the last two weeks or so.

This is a diy sump and I have been using this sump for over 2 years without no problems. Why would it leak suddenly? the only change I made recently is to replace the pump but the sump itself was left untouched.

Another weird thing is some days it leaks more than the other. Yesterday and day before I lost nearly a gallon of water a day but today I see that there is not much loss. In fact the floor is pretty much dry. Any idea why this would happen?

I am planning to replace the sump soon but I am curious to find out why a sump would leak so that I can keep an eye on it in the future.

It is to the right side of the sump. In the picture below you can see that bottom wood (next to the canister filter) is wet. When the leak is worse then the floor is completely wet for nearly six to seven inches from the stand. But when the leak is not so bad then it is only about an inch or two from the stand is wet.

Hey Sam, how are you. Nice to see you back here.

The pump is screwed to two layers of 2X4s. However I just realized that even though the pump is screwed to a 2X4, the 2X4s are not attached to anything. May be it is a good idea to nail the 2X4s to the floor?
