Leaving tank for the first time.

I've left my aquarium for the first time since building it. I'm on vac in fl. The system seems pretty stable, and I prepaired daily feeding portions for my friend who is feeding and adding TO water. It's a big step, but the tank has been running realy good for the last 3 weeks, with nitrates, & phosphates near 0. Ph staying At 8, Calcium @ 450. Just use buffer, and don't need to dose . And all inhabitants happy. My green hair algae has all but dissapeared over the last weak or so too. Tank was started in jan, but had a few issues early on. It's been on track since early March.

Leaving a tank for the first time is always stressful. Good practice on the food. Number one problem with vacation tanks is oberfeeding. Get yourself a reef buddy. That way you know that you have someone who's familiar with how our systems work tending to it. Pics when you get back please.

That's is one of my biggest concerns that I've had. Right now I've been on vacation for 2 weeks in Puerto Rico and I've pretty confident on my system since it pretty much automated. I have my friend come everyday and feed 2 cubes of mysis a day. So far so good and my vacation ends tomorrow and I'll be home again.

A friend who has kept a successful reef tank in the past will stop in mid week to give it a once over. He helped me build the sump and filtration system so he's familiar. I hope to meet some Reefers in the Bergen county area, to network with.

Nice to have friends with experience to watch over things. One of the downsides of this hobby for me is that Im afraid to leave the house for any extended period.
