When I first got in I was told that I could have a 6 line wrasse and a dotty in a 13g tank. Over the years I've read about 'minimum tank size', reef safe and safe tank mates. My experience has been that much of what i read is total crap- I've had to rehome a bunch of fish etc. I'm sure we all have tales of money spent/ wasted. Love to hear some

Were you told this in-store, or on-line? Both sources can be unreliable. On-line can be a crap shoot. In-store can be influenced by the "rep" wanting to make his numbers.

I've thought of the following test for in-store sellers. Walk into the store and say you'd like a Blue Linckia Starfish. Mention that your tank is only a few month old, and that you used artificial "live" rock (manufactured with concrete and purple paint) or simply used dead reef rock.

If the rep says something like "you'll have no problems" if you buy one, then just TURN AROUND AND WALK OUT! They're either idiots or just looking to make a fast buck.

I was sold a 5 gallon aquarium with a chromis to cycle with, so I can go back the next week and get a dog faced puffer . The chromis died, I thought something was up, hit up the Internet and got addicted from there.
