bought a 120W FULL SPECTRUM LED DIMMABLE LIGHT FIXTURE REEF CORALS MARINE AQUARIUM.
What is everyones light height? ive read from 8-12 inches .. this is for a 40 gal reef

If this is the 16 inch version, for a 40 breeder you are going to need to hang it high for good spread. In the ballpark of 12 - 15 inches

Oh OK. Just hang it high enough to get good spread at the bottom. 10 - 12 inches should work

saltkreep88 light installed per your 10 - 12 instructions . That was perfect . light is very bright turned down like 1/3 for little while ..
 
Glad it worked, these lights are VERY strong so I would not go over 40% on each channel and slowly increase over the next month or so.

Only problem is when it is hung high enough to cover 36 inches it will bleed a little light front to back. Also make sure you by the light with 120° optics

It for a frag tank in the basement, (to start corals for my DT) then it will become a QT tank using the cheap light that came with the tank. so bleed over it's an issue...thanks for the replies.
