Lion Fish

The talk of them being in our waters has been going on for a couple years now I think. I wonder what they taste like? Such a beautiful fish. I wish I had the room for one.

If I see one this year while diving I will let everyone know. I have not eaten lionfish myself, but I have heard it is a very tasty fish. There is a lionfish cookbook too.

They are beautiful and tasty... but also dangerous to reefs because they have no natural predators. Most dive vacation areas ask you to report whenever/wherever you see one so they can try to capture them.

I orderd one for lunch in Aruba but then I realized they were basically going to fry the entire fish and then I would have to pick it apart, I passed. Got some amazing other fish instead.

There have been reports of this fish being caught off the Jersey coast, and off Long Island.

I watched an episode of "SHARK TANK" the other night. The Lion Fish are living in the Gulf of Mexico around Florida (throughout the Carribean) and up the coast North as far as Maine. 2 guys were pitching an idea to catch them and sell them to restaurants to help decrease the population. No "Sharks" were interested.
