Looks like BRS has been acquired

I don’t know the numbers is it’s private transaction.
But I think BRS doesn’t need more money. The salt water hobby is already tiny. I would think they are making a killing on the YouTube channel. Retail is a horrible business. I know Amazon keeps eating at their profits. Shipping rates keep going up.

Honestly, I'd buy from brs more if amazon didn't have the same thing (sometimes for less money) and next day shipping. My last order from brs took almost 2 weeks.

BRS like every other business can’t compete with amazon. I am a prime member and on some items I get it the same day. It’s crazy. Amazons prices are also cheaper. I think this is a smart move by BRS.
Cash out while you can. If we keep having closures like Fiji and Hawaii I think this hobby will stop almost over night.

They are smart to take out money will they are on top. I would think they can continue doing BRStv
And keep making $$$ money off that with no over head.

i heard they want the money to launch a new product. maybe salt or something

I would think they should stop selling salt.
That’s one of the products that don’t ship well.
I think they need to stop selling all salts.
That’s to expensive to ship heavy salt boxes across
The country.

i get salt from my local petco belive it or not. io is $40. ive been buying online and pick up with the 25% off so it comes to $30 a bucket. they just raised the 25% to purchases over 50, so i just buy 2 at a time, 160x2 for 60. plus theres the $5 reward when you hit $100. but i will keep saying it io mixes up dirty as hell. looks like there is clay to me

It is a shame...I can't blame BRS as they are doing what is right for them...but having these great stores owned by the PE entities who are looking to maximize the profits is really going to cause disruption in the market place. Any suggestions on an alternative to BRS that will support a good family owned business besides my LFS. (I support them as well..but there are just some things they do not stock)

i like their price match guarantee lol

  • We will not match a price if we will lose money on the transaction. There are idiotic companies out there selling below cost and we would greatly prefer you buy from them. Better they lose money than we lose money.

I get my salt locally from reefco since they are the only ones that carry fritz blue box around me.
But since I have such a large system I am not loyal to any salt I get whatever is on sale. It’s funny how people make such a big deal about salt.

If we are buying salt to make food at home no one would judge you by the salt use on a steak.
But in our hobby people feel that you need to get a bucket of salt made in a lab in Germany $$$ to be successful. At the end of the day salt is salt everything else is marketing. Lol

i like sea salt for my steaks tbh

actually when this thing is over and we start getting together, i'll make you one of my steaks. i have a pretty neat recipe which involves a blow torch

back when i lived in texas, i visited a steakhouse and they asked me how i wanted my steak. i like rare and burnt on the outside. they waiter said oh you want that pittsburgh'd. the legend as it stands is that the steel workers who cast the steel beams would bring a raw steak to work for lunch and just toss it on a cooling beam. would turn black on the outside and red on the inside.
