Maintenance Cleaning

I'm looking to start a deep cleaning of my equiptment and looking for some feedback; pumps, skimmer, wavemakers, replacing heaters etc..
1. Is citric acid what i should be using for the cleaning?
2. I got a inkbird monitoring the heaters and fans. Yesterday the readings went out of wack, it keeps rising while the tank temp doesnt. Reading 91 when tank is actually 80. Unplugged everything from it and the heaters are running by thier internal thermostat until replacing the unit with another inkbird or something else. It's about a year old and not sure if its common for them to fail around that age. I like the unit since it turns off the heaters and turns on the fans and vice versa depending on what temperature swing you set.
3. Anything other feedback!

Vinegar is staple for cleaning calcium encrusted anything. However. Citric acid is now the go to cleaner if what you are cleaning is plastic and contains a magnet. (Like pumps, motors, frag holders etc.). Because vinegar can and will penetrate the plastic and swell the magnet. My understanding is that citric acid will not do this.
I have several ink birds. And a year seems a bit soon for the inkbyrd. However. If you are considering replacing it... BRS now makes what is basically an inkbyrd clone. Except it’s cheaper and all components are separate and replaceable as individual components.

Can you buy citric acid locally or better off of Amazon?
Honestly I haven’t shopped around for it Just picked up from BRS. But pretty sure it can be purchased from any number of places. Since you don’t put it in your tank you clean stuff you take out of the tank. I doubt it needs to be pharmaceutical

I’ve been through 2 Inkbirds in less than a year. Both crapped out and gave me high readings. Thought they just needed to be recalibrated so I did that and that only lasted a few days and the temp reading shot up to 100+ I’m done with those. I have one on my tank now only because I cut and mounted in my cabinet to see the display. It reads 120 degrees. I may check out BRS hopefully it’s better than the Inkbird.
