Marc Rock

I was told about Marco rock during the meeting and how its great b/c you get a lot of rock for the money because its very light. If anyone brought some, can you tell me it you like it . I see they offer two kinds . regular rock and slab. which one is bettor. and lastly do you have to cycle this rock in a separate container or can you just throw it in an established tank? thanks

Peter

I ordered from him a couple weeks ago, 25lbs specifically asking for larger/showy pieces (since I plan to redo my 50g, hoping to get something even remotely close to Merv's ;) )

Anyways I got the regular rock, I could not be happier with it. Simply awesome pieces, extremely porus, I can just invision little fish and inverts in all the holes/crevices. I haven't used mine yet since I'm waiting until I redo the rest of the tank but it's really great looking stuff, you can even see some of those little purple formations still on mine.. other then that it's pretty clean, I'd say a good hosing off to get any dust or sponges that are stuck in some spots is all it will need.

As for needing to cycle it, on his site he says to cycle it I believe as there are some dried organics on it.. I think it depends how much you'd be adding to your system and how much LR you currently have. I added one of the smaller pieces to my 24g aquapod after just rinsing it off and haven't had any issues or changes in parameters.

I'll try to get some photos soon to post, I wanted to do that to rave about it anyways (not that my junky camera can capture how neat the rock is)

I don't think you could be disappointed, I know people have posted photos on RC and nano-reef.com as well.

Good luck!

I tried a free sample when he had them. I got 3 small pieces. Two months later, and they look great. Would recomend 100 percent for dry rock!

well I hate even posting these since they do not do the rocks any justice at all, but you'll get an idea at least. This is what I got in my 25lb box (small bit of rubble in the box, not much) The big rock is really amazing in person... LOVE IT... most of them are so "airy" you can see right through in many places.

My little "formation" I was just playing around with them, all photos taken when I just opened the box.

Well I'm going to be redoing the whole tank (need to replace CC with sand and buff out some scratches (acrylic)... haven't decided how I'll do it yet, if I'll build my structures and then cure in a tub with some of my existing LR to give it a boost or if I'll just redo the tank but leave my extra LR in there until this becomes live etc (I also know many people have issues with it but I've used marineland's biospira numerous times for both marine and fw with GREAT sucess so I'll likely add that as well.) Like I said the rock is really clean and after I sort of power wash it with the shower handheld nozzel I'm not to worried, but you'd want to make sure you still have other LR and/or LS if you're putting it into an existing system since obviously it has no bacteria in its current condition and won't until it becomes live from bacteria and critters moving into it from your LS/LR.

I ordered the 12.5lb box of Marco rock rubble on 3/23 and got it today 3/26. The box is 10" x 10" x 10" and is packed full of Tonga pieces. I never expected so much...

The floor tile is 12" x 12" and the rocks on the floor represent approx 10% of what's in the box.

Very nice stuff. It was only $14.00 plus $6 shipping.

Buying 50 lb's of their dead base rock is like buying 90 pound of live rock. It is so l ight you get lots of it. One of the pieces in my 50 lb boxe was 2 feet long.

Its great stuff. Lay a few 10 lb. pieces of fully cured live rock and in 2 or 3 months, you won't know which is which.
