I would be up for an order. I got a sample from them, and it is one of the best looking peices of rock in my system even if its only like 5 inches long.

Are these live rocks or just a good place to set a coral

These are not live rock. It is dried out base rock that makes great filler pieces for a reef tank. Once in your tank they will eventualy become live rock though.

Most folks use it to keep the cost down when setting up a new tank.

Having bought LOTS of it over some years, it is great stuff.

It is EXTREMELY light and since it has so many holes the working surface area is much higher other type of rock. Great unusual holes and shapes. Put in it in your tank, lean some deep purple rock against it and in a few months great stuff.

Good company to deal with. When you order from them, you can tell them the sizes you are looking for. The rock though can be easily borken up. You can also ask them to email you a pick of what they have picked out for you before they ship it, in case you want to change.

It is also a great source of rubble. They rubble bags make great small pieces for mounting corals on or for loading into your sump.

your right, this is NOT live rock, but the pieces you get are great big pieces!!!!, i ordered a 50 lb box a while back and i couldnt believe the size of the pieces---
this rock is good to start up with, i plan on using it a base rock and once in the tank, will get some ' live' rock to fill in

I agree 100%. Marc is great to work with. here is a pic of my order. A 25lb box, a tonga shelf rock and a 12.5lb bag of rubble.

I hope this helps folks!

im assuming these rocks are not safe to put into an established system?
how long, roughly, would it take to cycle?

Hey mookie. Well, here is what I did. I mixed up some fresh salt mix. I washed the rocks and tried to remove all the loose dried junk that I could. A few of the rocks had quite a bit of crud. Put the rock in a large rubbermaid tub and added the fresh saltwater mix. I added enough water change wastewater from one of my tanks to cover the rock. Added a powerhead and a heater and the tub sat this way in my garage. I would do waterchanges on the tub with waterchange wastewater every two weeks. It took 6-7 weeks for the cycle to complete and I let it go another week after that before I added these to my set up. I added these to my fish only system and they have been looking better and more colorful each day since. As someone said earlier, I also added a few small pieces of live rock here and there and the coraline will take over from there. HTH.
