I hadn't seen my Diamond Goby for about 4 or 5 days and I began to worry . He was always out and about throughout the tank doing what he does best which is sifting sand. He wasn't in his burrow which is underneath a rock right in the front of the tank. I couldn't help but think the worst :'( as he is not shy nor is he one to hide.
Tonight while prepping for a water change I turned off the pumps and it tripped the socket which is in the back of the tank. As I went to restart it I noticed something moving in the overflow. Out of nowhere I see my Diamond Goby swimming in the overflow. Of course I was happy he was alive . I should have checked there a couple of days ago :-[as He is the second fish to get into the overflow - my Royal Gamma jumped in there a few months ago. I called my wife to assistance me as I needed to drain the overflow. She held the net at the bottom of the drain in the sump and my hope was the Goby would slide down the drain and into the net. As soon as I removed the standpipe the Goby jumped out of the overflow. Naturally it startled me and I thought I saw him land back in the water though I wasn't sure and I couldn't tell where. After the overflow drained completely my wife informed me that the fish wasn't in the net. I search all over the floor and didn't see the Goby. I hoped he landed in the tank but couldn't be sure. He was no longer in the overflow and again I inspected the floor but didn't see him there either.
As I began writing this thread I didn't see the Goby in the tank. I figured he'd show up in a day or so, at least that was my hope. That was going to be the ending to this thread, but just a moment ago I noticed him in his usual spot removing sand from his burrow. Doing what he does best . Thanks to the big guy/gal for taking care of him.
