I just went to mix my first batch of TMP and there are no mixing instructions on the bucket. Does anyone have a idea what the amount would be for 25gal?

Thanks

Bob

Hey Bob, I no chemist....oh wait, I am! Since most, if not all of us, mix salt by volume measure, just do what you would do for any other salt. The trace amounts of other goodies that are in different salts isn't going to change the volume measure any noticeable amount. This ain't rocket science...it's just ballpark science. So mix X number of cups that you normally mix for 25 gallons...that will get you close and just adjust with a pinch more salt of a dash more RO/DI. NOTE, pinch and dash are chemistry terms. ;D

I think I used about 1600 mL's in my 32G brutus filled about 2" from the first lip.. Probably about 25 or so gallons.

On that note though.. I noticed that the TMP was in plastic. I just scooped it out without mixing. Since it was soo tightly packaged I was hoping that it didn't shift? Bad move?

I use 16 cups for 50g and it comes in right at 1.025.

{Edit} - I know that sounds high but I use 8 of those red palstic cups. They say 16oz on them, so I'm assuming it's 16 cups total.

I'll have to look at the lid on mine when I get home.

After I figured out how much I needed per gallon I wrote it on the lid of the bucket and now every time I get a new bucket I put the old lid with the written mixing amount on the new bucket.

Of course I cant remember what it is and am stuck at work for a few more hrs

Hey Bill didn't you mean 1/2 cup per gallon?

Sorry! 1/2 cup per gallon. I figured out what I do per gallon and meant to multiply but got distracted while psoting.

Busy day!

Okay my lid says 10 cups per 20 gals (I usually mix 20 gal at a time) So thats half a cup per gallon if my math is correct this morning.

It should get you to between 1.024 to 1.025 depending on how accurate your gallon measurement is

Mine tends to run closer to the 1.024 but my water containers are 5 gallon plastic kerosene cans (bought them new and got 4 cans for $5)and they tend to hold a bit more than 5 gal depending on how high you top them
