MP placement? And sound

Where do you have your MP series placed?

(New sand/Tank setup as of last month. Fiji pink + special grade)

I have an MP40 on the back right top & then have one front left lower w/ anemone guards. The lower left is blowing the sand everywhere. I also took the guards off last night because the design was definetly restricting flow. I moved it higher last night but still blowing it across the sand. It's only at 20% power! Should I just move it higher? I was trying to keep one mp40 higher than the other, but it's useless if it's blowing sand everywhere.

Also, I don't know how to put it, but one mp40 has a static sound to it on the dry side. It's brand new as of last month, but the rotations does not sound as smooth as the other one.

First picture is with the guard on & lower
2nd picture is with the guard off and higher. You can see it's still blowing the sand.

Hey Kevin, you don't mention the size of the tank, but in looking at the scale, it appears the MP40s are too powerful for that size tank. I think you're going to have to keep them set at a low setting. That said, most definitely move them up. I have a five foot 90 gallon with five MP40's....four of them are on the upper part of the tank with one down low to blow behind the rock....and I don't care if it clears out the sand back there. Here's one end, with three of the MP's

As far as the noise on one of your MP's....try slightly moving either the dry or wet side around while running to find the happy spot. Note, I said slightly. It will (should) quiet down.

Kev,

I have a 425xl which is probably slightly bigger than your tank, not by much though.

I have an mp40 on one end and a ow-25 on the other end. I'm trying to get my hands on a second mp40 to replace the ow-25 but I find that the mp40 on 50% and the ow-25 on 100% produces adequate flow. My mp40 is higher in the tank and it doesn't effect the sand, maybe raise it some ? What mode is it on?

Whoops, 80g 48x24x16 it's aio so width inside is 18

I just bought these off Etsy
They have a deflector so I'll try that out.

Yeah, I'll raise it more when I get home.
It's on reefcrest during the day & lagoon at night.

Also, as mentioned I ordered some guards with deflectors to see how that works out. I just realized I ordered 2 when I really only need one. Whoops.
