MRC Calcium Reactor

This morning I woke to find that the first column of my MRC CA Reactor was totally dry and the recirc. pump was sucking air. The effluent line was not dripping any water into the sump. Lately I've had nothing but problems with this reactor. I'm having trouble maintining my Alk because I always have to play around with it. The valve on the second chamber that controls the drip rate is horrible. Can I replace that valve with another? What do you think would cause the first chamber to run dry? I'm going to post this message on MRCs forum on Reef Central as well.

Thanks,
Mike

I saw your reactor at the meeting. It's pretty high up. It could but that it lost suction from the sump and then ran dry because of gravity. This is just a guess.

Also maybe a new regulater/pressure valve would be good. What kind do you have now?
