I know some of you are running or have run an MRC mr2 skimmer. This is what I am currently running. I don't think it is doing a bad job, but I am curious as to how you ran it. I am running it off of a main pump and manifold. MRC claims I am losing a lot of efficiency not having a dedicated pump to it.

How did you have yours set up and did you change one way or another with any different results?

Have an MRC2 running off a MAG 24. I do have an external dedicated pump sitting on the shelf that will be installed once I get around to drilling the sump.

I’m also considering, once I drill the sump, installing the valve upside-down. The reason is to see if “damming” the return flow would make it a little less touchy.

My comment/question: Why do they put those air valves on the beckett chamber? I run mine wide open, and I’ve got to believe so does everyone else.

Same here.

I'm running an MRC1 but with the extender/body which would be the equivalent of a 2 I guess. I have mine T'd off the return as well. The pump is pressure rated so I believe I am ok. However I do notice a lower than optimal flow on my return line. Frankly I have been thinking of adding a dedicated pump.

'Course the flip side of me thinks I should save every penny and sell this skimmer for a new one...lol.

I dont see how a dedicated pump would be any different. As long as the flow thats provided by your manifold is at a consistant rate, and keeps the water flow where it should be, whats the difference?
