I've been in the hobby a long while, and I think MTC products are bulletproof. I have one of their calcium reactors that I bought used and they took it back and upgraded it to the current model for me. Who do you know who'll do that for you? They're located in Oakland, NJ. I don't know who you're thinking of buying the skimmer from, but Bob at Eagle Reef has a good relationship with them and carries their line.
