My Piece of the Reef

Yesterday while shopping at the retailer that remains nameless i picked up an awsome rock with two different zoas and a porties.

It reminded me of Dr.Macs peices of the reef so i purchased it and here it is.

Because most of their threads dont end up well.

LOL! I think I have an idea who you're talking about!

Looks like a leptastrea (sp?) to me.

I hope not i may keep fragging the zoas back to give the porties more room. It almost looks like the hulk montipora but more uniform in the space between poyps and its flat and it plates.

I think there may have been a christmas tree worm in the middle of porties.

Not yet ill let ya know.

i wish the porties had more color im actually more inclined to let them work it out on their own, well see who starts to win.

that sps in the middle is an encrusting porites. I have the same one, hitchiked on a piece of LR like 5 years ago. It's now the size of a grapefruit. A Very slow grower, and very dense.

any pics merv?

Oddly a couple of the outer polyps are yellow from i guess touching the zoas. Its looks like the zoas are receding and the porties is spreading.

Well guys i finished off my gift certificate to the store of no name. Another nice zoa combo rock

Lookie Lookie here (this morning with actinics on before i left for work)

I didn't catch that until now. I'll take pics tomorrow after work

Here's a porites frag that is very close to the top, it turned a nice hue of green, and it's doing battle with the pink birdsnest.

The mother colony is a brownish color since it's at the bottom of the tank-

and here it is- It's larger than an orange! and yes, that's a real live orange as proof! Had to skewer it to keep it from floating!

Come on now, what fish store did it come from ;D
Not to hijack the thread but putting that orange in there to show size is just too funny, or do you usually keep your fruit in the tank ?

I hope they dont get mad im speaking about them. Its Absolutely Fish.

Also merv i noticed that the zoas around the back edge of porties are closed up and the porties i speading.

Nice coral though, colors are so so like mine but it looks really cool.
