My turn, lost power today ... generator (and dad) to the rescue!

So horrible to hear of so many folks have been impacted by the terrible weather and power outages. I had electric up until noon today ... and after seeing Jim Roth (great to see you again Jim!), I new I had to act quickly ...

My dad came over with his 5000W generator and within about 45 min, I was up to full power - heaters, filters, skimmers air and lights. Excuse the mess, still getting stuff setup since moving over the last tank ...

For those still without power - I'm so so sorry. Everyone on this board puts so much into their hobby, just horrible. Hoping things get better fast!

Yeah, I like big fish! That reminds me - I also bought a small freezer today to keep my frozen krill, prawn, mysis, etc.

Yes, big fish are fun - but I like the little guys too. Below, Garden Eel in the recently moved reef - found a good spot and seems to be happy. I wish the urchin would move farther away from him however!

especially when you didn't see them for months and thought they are a goner... then suddenly you see them popup their little cute head and say hi to you...!

Glad to see that you are ok and that you were without power for only 45 minute. I learned my lesson after Irene (had a generator and it crapped out on me). I bought a brand new generator and it was all ready to get going if I needed it. Luckily I didn't

I picked up a 6500W Generac with electric start (for the wife). Even if i have to use it ONCE it will be well worth the money.

I need to get a generator. My wife and I have been talking alot about it since Irene came to town.
