My zoas are p***ed off and sick

I have looked at the thread that describes the different sickness that zoas can get and mine do not match any of them.

For about a week and a half now my zoas are spewing a brown discharge out of there mouths and are very unhappy. Some of them are shut and some of them are open. It differs each day but they are not getting any better.

Any ideas???

My water parameters are good: alk 11, calcium 460, mag. 1400, ph 8.3, phosphates .15, ammonia .25, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, Salinty 1.025, temp. 77 - 80

No change in the lighting in the last 4 months and the temp. is 77. My temp has bounced around a bit, anywhere from 81 - 75 degrees. I have been experimenting with my fans now that summer is on the way. I now have the correct amount of wind from the fan to keep the tank around 77-79.

Most likely it was the temp spike that caused your zoas to expel. If you can keep the temp between 76-78 they may not do it again. I've never had zoas do it but from what I've read it's rarely fatal. They may lose some color temporarily but if you can keep your water parameters stable they should recover.
On another note your phosphates seem a little high but it shouldn't really be a concern in a soft coral tank. You will have reduced growth rates on your LPS/SPS with P04 that high. Also ideally you want 0 ammonia and nitrite. Is the tank fairly new?

No the tank is not new. It has been running since October. I made a bonehead mistake and put an old filter in my sump, that wasn't fully clean and my ammonia spiked from this. Since than I have removed the filter and my ammonia is dropping. Thanks for the info.
