if you think of joining the site Nanoreef.com, you may want to reconsider. I've had some great responses on reef related discussions but I recently went into the "lounge area," (our open water equiv) asked a question about extracurricular activities and got completely attacked by people. They are the rudest, most abusive people I have ever come across on a forum.

Just wanted to share, because I am still in awe at the way I was treated.

found most of the people over there are nice, do the majority of my posting over there, however I hear the lounge is definatly a different beast, I haven't been in there.

Dude, they are a bunch of pricks. I totally agree about the lounge conversations. They tore me apart because I told someone to avoid the newer BMWs, they said I didnt know what I was talking about etc. OK, Im a BMW master tech, and a european tech for about 7 years. F them I just ignore their stupid comments. Its like they think theyre better than everyone because of their high post count. For DIYs and advice on fish coral etc, I thik its great, just dont get involved with their topics, because if you have a different POV, youll get attacked.

You are spot on Audi, couldnt of explained it better. It just blew my mind, like is that how people really think when you interact with them in person but they are too cowardly to say whats on their mind? or is it just coincidence that NANOREEF.COM has the biggest bunch of douchebags on the planet? who would think, nanoreef.com? I could see if it was a football or weightlifting forum where people are all rowdy and riled up. No, the cult following at nanoreef.com, lol.

correct, I understand the gang mentality thing. But after my thread was started in nanoreef I immediately got two replies that were rude. That is why I came in here and posted about it.

N-R is a great site, but you need to have a thick skin or good sense of humor to blow off the initial hazing if you venture into the lounge.

sorry man, and to the rest of you here. Just felt like I had to say something to him. I have a ton of respect for this site and those who have helped me move into the hobby so far. ;)
