Need to lower alkalinity

my ph is reading 8.0, but my alkalinity is reading a dKH of 16. i know its never supposed to go beyond 12 with a desired level of 9. how do i lower this? will my ph buffer cause my alkalinity to go up, its not the kent superbuffer which builds dkh. help

Time is the best way to do this. Yes, your PH buffer will raise your alk. If you've got low PH with high alk, you most likely have too much CO2 (and here's were that Kalk reactor comes into play! It would definitely help you with this.

Stop dosing alk/ph buffer and keep increasing your Ca as normal until they're back into a balanced range.
