LIRA is proud to announce our 5th annual conference at Atlantis Marine World in Riverhead. This years speakers include Sanjay Joshi, Matt Pedersen and Peter Schmiedel.

Following the conference LIRA will be hosting dinner by the reef, admission includes a full open bar and catered buffet dinner. The rare opportunity to watch the 20,000 gallon reef enter dusk to night and the appearance of the nocturnal flashlight fish seen only after lights out.

This place is seriously impressive, its about 2 hours and 30 minutes away. You wouldnt be disappointed. And if you go early there is an enormous outlet mall about 10 minutes away

For a family trip it is better in the summer time. They have an outdoor part where they do dolphin shows. And next door is a sea turtle rescue place that is very interesting. This is right where I used to live so I know a lot about the area. But in the center of the aquarium is a huge tank with sharks, and there is a part with large mouth bass that is very cool. Also a part where you can buy small fish to hand feed the stingrays. It is definitely geared around kids but for hobbyists the reef tanks are breathtaking.

Wow, that does look like a cool place for a road trip. About 3+ hours for me, but it's something different from the NJ Aquarium in Camden. If I don't make this event, I'm sure I'll make it up there sometime.

Too far of a drive for me for a day trip, and have to go to a B-Day dinner tomorrow night anyway... so I won't be making it. :'(

I wish I could have. I was working on getting the two feet of water out of my sister in law's house. Not fun.
