new 90

starting a 90 rr looking for cheaper sand than live .Looked through arcives , then found this http://www.amazon.com/Sandtastik-Wh...6559643&sr=8-1&keywords=play+sand+silica+free

would 50 lbs and a 10 bag of live sand work

I've learned from experience that if its not "reef sand" it wont work out in the long run.

I once used pool filter sand bc someone said it was awesome, 6 months later, it was clumping up all over my sandbed. Had to take out my sandbed and replace it. Not fun.. I'm gonna assume sandbox sand isn't too far off.

I'd advise against it.

Looking up the sand I find this:

• Origin: Imported (Canada)

That tells me that this is not calcium carbonate based sand....it's silicon dioxide based. You really don't want silicon based sand in a tank.

I haven't used the sand but the rock from here is great. I have read very good things about the sand though.

I'm using the sand jgraz linked above, it works well and does not blow around too much.
