New Phone

So I am not much of a phone geek, so I do not really know what is out there that is worth getting. This applies to phones as well as providers.

I do not really use my phone for anything other than talking, but I was considering getting a GPS unit and was wondering if the phones with GPS are worth looking into as an alternative.

Thoughts on phones/providers/phones as GPS?

Not really interested in a high dollar service plan, since I use the cell on a fairly limited basis.

Thanks for any input you may have.

GPS usually requires a data package. A data package and a decent plan= $100/mo. I think youd be better off getting a tom tom and keeping the phone for talking, gps is so cheap now. A decent one will be under 200, good deals everywhere.

I have the Droid on Verizon. The GPS is no extra charge and is run through google maps which is so easy. You can even google a business and when it comes up there is a button you can press to navigate to the place you googled. I have that phone with full data plan and my wifes phone, a blackberry storm, with a full data plan and it is around 150 a month.

Also, the phone is amazing.

If you only use a cell phone for the phone feature, keep it simple and just get a normal flip phone or somethin easy. Get a tom tom like audios said, or comparable unit for like 2oo. Way easier+ cheaper

Unless you need a GPS for while walking I would recommend a Garmin Nuvi. Most cell phones that have the capability of GPS navigation normally have a fee of some kind. Most smartphones require a dataplan and verizon charges a monthly or a la carte fee for their dumbphones.
