Since you did go with the mangroves do you want to make it look like a beach/shallow waters ? Something like LPS/shrooms would look really artificial in that tank wouldnt you say? SPS perhaps as they do sometimes grow not so far from the shore. You could have conches,starfishes, clams, pencil urchins to make it look like a touch tank or convert it to a FOWLR.

I have a long wielded dream in which I convert a swimming pool into a monster tank with a beach on the sides. The beach would have mangroves crabs and perhaps birds. The pool would have a rapid tranision from shore to reef. I have seen natural setups like this. ... and my man-made inspiration is the Hippo tank in New Jersey state aquarium (of course that ones fresh water) ...

Always like a different idea ... way to go man !! Please keep up with updates and/or pictures.

I agree. Tank looks original. I haven't seen anything like that. great concept. please do post pics along your progress. I would love to see how it turns out.

i think the style you are going for is great a nice lagoon type of setup just watch out for algea out breaks
