New Setup (29 gallons)

I've been pretty busy researching European Fire-bellied Toads(Bombina bombina)for the past few weeks, since I will never ever be able to keep a snake in this house. ::)

After tons of reading and then acquiring necessary materials, I set up my first palundarium over the weekend. Here it is:

And a few of the inhabitants:

The setup was only finished yesterday, and last night the "crew" surprised us with their song. They sound pretty cool. :)

Wendy,
Very nice setup. I use to have one with FB toads, newts and mudskippers. If your inetersetd in some green and black poison dart frogs let me know or a small patternless leopard gecko. I need to thin out the zoo.

Thanks a million, Mark. :) Would I be able to keep the Poison Dart Frogs with the FBT? What do they eat? If they're compatible, then I am most definitely VERY VERY interested.

well wendy, with your increase in pets, i think "Robbies zoo" has some competition...lol

you should add red-eyed tree frogs, they are awesome!

very nice! I had the same frogs at 1 point till my kid rubbed his eyes after touching them and they swelled up shut after good rinsing went away I guess we live and learn ::)

how many do you have in there? they look soooooo cool!

also - are those swordtails or guppies in the water?

great set up!

Thanks a bunch, Phil. Right now I have 3 in there, but will get 2 more since I won't be adding any other amphibians.

Those are male guppies. Will try and add several females to keep those guys busy. ::) Additionally, guppy fry makes a good substitute food for the toads.

I've wanted to do a tank like that(now they have tanks that have openings for hob filters mid way down...but with 2 tanks already...*ahh well*..lol Gd luck on the setup Wendy

Thanks for all the nice comments, guys. ;D

All 5 toads have been doing great. These guys can eat, let me tell ya. Ok, so they were a little on the "slim" side when I first got them, but by now they're all nice and plump, quite alert and active, and a pleasure do watch.

I maintain the tank the same day I do waterchanges for my 180 - Fridays. Remove about 1/3 of the water, stir up some of the substrate to remove yuckies, and clean whatever else is soiled.

So far so good. Also added 3 female guppies, to the delight of the males. :D
