Nitrate Testing - Salifert

Frustrating... when I look from the top down, it seems that my nitrates are 25 ppm. But when I look sideways, it not nearly dark enough to be 10 ppm (100 is the darkest and you divide by 10 if looking sideways).

What kits do you all use for nitrates?may end up getting a Hanna.

I like Salifert for Ca and Kh and not for nitrates. I use NYOS

My understanding is that if the color from the top view is over 10 then you stick to the top view. If it is under 10 from the top view, then you use the side color to get a more accurate number. So by that logic the 25 is the result. But definitely try another kit to be sure.

I have this kit too along with the RedSea one. They both always read about the same number whenever I run side by side. however I don't think I've ever had nitrates high enough to use the top view of the salifert kit.
