NJ man arrested/fined for having 4 tortoises in backyard (one was 320 pounds)

Article says he had kept the larger tortoise for over 20 years. Give the man kudos for keeping a pet so long.

Doesn't exactly sound like he was taking very good care of them though. Respiratory infections, cracked shells...... I'm sure they're better off now.

i kinda wonder what you do with a 320 pound tortoise in the winter?

A few years ago someone was posting on CL that they needed a place to house their tortoises for the winter. They would pay you and then you give them back in the summer.
The person was also from the Highlands. I wonder if its one and the same.
