I have collected sea lettuce in sandy hook bay. My tangs love that stuff. Have not done it too much there is enough algae in the tank for the one tang I have. But you can collect a big bucket and freeze it you will be all set for a very long time.

I'm pretty sure that's the stuff @radiata and I went to collect a number of years ago. Got a very small amount....were either there the wrong time of year or just weren't in the right spot.

As far as store-bought nori....the best and cleanest oriental market I've found is H-Mart. The one I go to is in Edison. Love this store! The only problem is that their nori selection is too large....to many choices. And don't think about buying kelp....your fish won't touch it....I've tried.

Few years ago when we did the Nori group buy, I ordered 4 cases from CA. That was the best nori I every found - human grade stuff. That guy supplied that to all sushi places. I might still have some left that I will not use. PM me if you want to come get some - no charge.
