Oceans

Great post Jim!

I saw the James Cameron voyage on tv the other day. It was pretty amazing that we can actually get down that far and survive. The pressure that sub had to endure was what I was worrying about the whole time. It was truly amazing and hopefully now that it's been done it will promote more exploration to learn more.

As to the second link... yea, it's really sad how much waste is in our oceans. Being a part of our annual beach cleanup the past two years really opened my eyes to what's really out there. I mean we collected bags and bags of trash that was on the beach. Some of it was just left by people on the beach, but a lot of it washed up from the water too.

We (people of earth) really need to do something about the pollution of the oceans. Helping clean it up is one thing, but it would be much better if we prevented it from happening to begin with. As a start, I'd like to ask everyone to please take your trash with you when you leave the beaches. If you can carry it there, you can carry it home with you. Tang police

Really cool first link Jim - thanks.

I'll agree with both you and George on the problem of polluted oceans. I also participated in the beach cleanup (at Sandy Hook) and as much as there was to clean up I do think it (the Jersey coast) is better than it was when I was younger - at least from what I remember. Still I think the problem is much worse across the oceans in general than it was a while ago.
