Ok I might have panicked abit but...

I was looking at my tank. Looking behind the rock wall. Saw something and it looked like a coral. I was like wow what did I drop back there... I can't see as good as I used to so I put on my specs and I was like what the heck is that. Mojano? Something not good! I grabbed at it with my grippers and it closed up all at once. That was that Rock is coming out and that is getting broken off. TG it was easy to access. I broke it and an larger part of the rock out. Here is a pick out of the water. Looks like a flower of tube worms. Any help to I'd would be greatly appreciated. Sucks cause my oldest growth of acro was on a rock that had to be moved. Ah well live and learn

I believe they are colonial hydroids. Do a search on Google for them. Split jury on how bad they are and if you should panic. I have had them for at least 2 years and they do not seem to spread too quickly. They are capable of stinging corals , but I haven't lost anything to them. I am actually not sure mine are alive. I do not see them come out of the tubes now and I read that they do actually die off with time.

When I saw them they looked really pretty greenish I first thought they were a cool coral. Ill look em up. It looked like a Pom Pom

if you like them - keep em on an island away from your other corals. Hate to say this but usually the stuff that grows by itself (or very easy) is the stuff very few people want in the hobby.....kenya trees anyone?

I had these in my tank. They spread like crazy!! I actually resorted to taking the rock out that they completely covered and using a blow torch on it (not kidding).

Thanks hawk. I'm not sure I want em in the tank. I read a lot about them and they are cool. And I guess it's cool that I've got stuff doing its own thing but I got one stuck in my finger when I was getting it off the rock. Bugger hurts!

Have your kids remove the rock for you. (just kidding!)

There was a member (Napoli) a while ago that had a 120 that was overrun by these to the point where he broke down the tank. Get rid of them asap.

Well I pulled rock put last night chiseled off the colony and rearranged that end of the rock wall. I hope they are stopped. Jeeeeez.
