old live rock

A friend of mine went to some ship sinking in south Jersey over the summer last year. He broght back two pieces of rock. I didn't know if I should have just added them to my tank or what so I kept them in a box outside.

Now I am moving into a 90 gallon from a 55 and can use them. Is there any safe way to use these pieces?

I collected all of my rock in the sea, some from NY. I just put it in my reef after removing the crabs

If this rock is dry (hasn't been kept in properly salted water) then you need to cycle it before using it in your tank.
