Our puppy Cosmo

Not sure why I'm even posting this, but I feel the need to vent and get it out there.

We're losing our puppy Cosmo. He has a lot of tumors growing inside of him, and his white blood cell count is extremely high. It's most likely cancer. We've been waiting to hear back from the Vet to see if they should even operate on him. But it's not looking good. Today is the first day that he truly is acting sick, he can't even hold down water. My heart is hurting and never in my life did I think that losing a dog would be this hard. Sitting and watching him is tearing me apart. This is when you wish you could talk to them...

Well, I'm not really good at this sort of thing, but like I said I just needed to get this out there. There is always hope, but from the reports we've been getting it really doesn't look good for him.

Here is picture from a few weeks ago of him...

Sorry that Cosmo is not feeling well. I know exactly how you feel! I'll be praying for you and Debbie.

Here's a picture of Roxie for Cosmo to take when it's time. I'm sure she will show him all the good spots in paradise.

Give Cosmo a hug for me (and Sierra). I hope that it is better than it looks from here. You have our thoughts and prayers.

Feel for you, Enjoy the time you have with him. When the time comes you will know the right thing to do.

I was told I had 28 Screwdrivers when I lost my buddy to cancer.
Best Wishes.

Brian:

I can totally relate to what you're going through. We lost our Scottish Terrier, Maggie in August of 08. That day was the absolute worst day of my life so far. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of her.

Char-Char.
I love that picture of him. I'm seriously angry that we have 3 dogs. The thought of going through this 2 more times makes me want to hurl.

Thank you for the kind words everyone, we really appreciate it. Unfortunately he seems to be getting worse by the hour...I have him here at work with me...he keeps vomiting and now is totally refusing food. We may have to make the decision tomorrow on what to do with him. A decision that neither of us wants to make, but both of us are pretty sure what needs to be done. Keep him around as long as possible for us? or put him down and let him be in peace. If he was still eating and drinking it would be easier to keep him around, but I don't see much quality of life if he can't do his favorite thing...eat!

I'm so sorry to hear about this Brian and Debbie. I know how close you are with your puppies. It's such a tough decision to have to make but I'm sure you'll do the right thing. Just be a peace with it and know that it was the right thing to do.

Brian & Debbie, I'm crying as I'm reading this, as it hits close to home. Cosmo is a beautiful boy, and you've given him the best life any pup could wish for.

Anyone who's had to "let go" knows that it's the hardest decision you will ever have to make. He is a part of your family, always will be.

And if you can't say good-bye, don't say it. Just tell him you'll see him later, or until you meet again.

Best wishes and hugs to both of you during this most difficult time. And hugs and kisses for Cosmo boy.

Thanks Wendy. I'm actually taking the day off tomorrow so I can spend one last day with him. You're right, this is the hardest thing I've (we've) had to do. We just feel so bad for him, whenever he throws up he gets scared and wants to hide...like he did something wrong. I just hope he's not in too much pain right now.

This is when you wish you could talk to them...

Brian---they understand when you talk to them MORE then you think---they pick up on your tone of voice and your body movements.....
Doing whats best for HIM is the decision you have to make----remember, HE has been there with you thru thick and thin ( i'm tearing myself right now...we have 2 Bichon's ) and the time is coming where you have to put aside your feelings and just think of HIM--you have to do for him now, like he did for you all thru the years

I've been thru this situation myself a long time ago, and yup, my eyes still fill up when i think of him
you'll do the right thing for him

Sorry to hear about Cosmo, Brian. Mine just had some bladder stones removed last night and he's in the hospital until Sunday. The poor guys' bladder almost ruptured. The house is so different when he's not around.

Thanks everyone, and that's a very cute picture Greg.

Well, today was the day that we said goodbye to our little guy. We talked to the vet one more time, and basically anything that could be done would be done for us and not Cosmo. As hard as it is, we know we did the best we could for him and gave him the best life he could have. I'll miss my little buddy everyday, but at least now I know he's in peace.

Oh my heart is breaking for you guys. I can't imagine what a horrible day it has been for you. But at least he's at peace, as hard as it is.

Brian----so sorry to hear he's gone---my heart aches for you and your family when i hear about someone having to do the ' hard ' thing---and i dont know you---but i know what it feels like to have a dog and then all of a sudden he's gone---
you did the right thing for Cosmo.....and he knows that
the days will get better but you'll always remember him

So sorry Brian and Debbie. I know how hard that decision is. And even how much worse going through with it is. It's one of the roughest things I've ever experienced. But in the end, you have to know that you absolutely did the right. Don't tarnish your good memories by questioning whether or not you did the right thing.
