Enough people wanting the same thing to make it worth while doing and someone to run with it Tag. Your it
I'm not a member but I'm very close to joining and I'm just curious what that entails.. how did you group order salt? Like a website offered bulk supply ?

Somebody contacts a Sales person who sells the item you want. And ask how much do you need to buy to get a discount. Then you try and get enough members. That want the item and bang. You have a group buy

Fish tank with corals..... lots of dollars

Membership to support all this wonderful information and camaraderie of people who share what you love... 12 bucks

Even I can do that math. Nothing to think about. ;)

We have group bought frozen California Black Worms twice and a lot of people participated. It's something that you can only order in bulk and not available in local stores. Thinking about doing it again if enough people are interested.

I would def do it

Good place to partner and WGRC would be interested in participating in any group buy events. We have 24 members now so could likely increase the discount for both clubs by going together too. Happy to alternate who coordinates and I could meet someone halfway on delivery. Just let me know what we'd be interested in buying. Personally IO salt, Tropic Marin Pro salt and LRS frozen would be top of list.

Group buys are always good.
As for joining, what's taking so long? Lol.
It is only $12.00.! You'll see topics that only paid members see. I think I made my $12 back & then some. I don't regret joining.

Salt group buys are difficult because everyone uses different salts. Let's see if we get a few Sponsors chiming in with a few discount$. ;)

No I agree - when I first got into the hobby I was over my budget and than I got my second tank lol.. they're finally fully running so I can justify 12 dollars yes 12 dollars.

Howdy,

Out of curiosity... How often do group buys occur?
For group buys to work there are a few things that have to happen
1. Enough members interested in a specific item or items from specific vendor in the case of lowering shipping cost with one bulk order and only one shipment.
2. The group buy leader for the event to make contact with a vendor and discuss the discount options for large orders. And how much of an order to make it beneficial in anyway.
3. Then the organization of the purchase and order. This includes setting up the order and management of the people ordering, collecting the payments, receiving the shipment and then handing out the goods.
In the past it's the ccollection of money and the giving out the items that has caused the bigger issues.
It's not that we dont want these things it's just making sure there are enough people interested and committed to the process.
The best ones are salt, clean up crews, corals.
These benefit the club but it's not on the board to make these things happen theres 5 of us and alot of members and a club to manage the best advice regarding these sorts of things is to find a deal and bring it to the attention of the membership and get the ball rolling.
