Par 38

Thinking about getting a par 38 or two for my nano.

I personally prefer a 18k-20k color

I'm looking at rapidled par 38 (6rb 2cw 2nw 2uv) or ocreef.com which is ( 6rb 4cw 2uv) or reefbreeders which is (6rb 1r 2v 3nw)

Can't decide between the three

Is there anywhere else that has cheaper par38s?

Do the goosenecks hold up the weight of the bulb? Where's the best place to get the goosenecks?

If you jump on Ebay you can find them real cheap, just don't know how good they will be. No idea on the goosenecks, but the reputable ones seem to have no issue holding the bulb.

i would get either the rapidled or reefbreeder version. ive been reading that multiple temperatures of white help bring color out as well as green, red, and violet LEDs. if you are getting two, i would probably get one of each and see how they each work.

I have 2 older ones from rapid one has 3rb and 2cw the other has 3cw 2rb and one from ecoxotic all rb the rb puts out a lot of par and has been in use a long time they look really good. the newer ones add the other spectrum. The goosenecks i got from lowes and had to cut the shade off for $10 they work but you have to position them right to hold the weight they fall more than holding it in place. I just traded a few corals for a sump light. the guy got it from reef radiance i think, the gooseneck it came with is awesome may want to check there. it is very rigid just don't know how much they are and if they can be bought separate.

Thanks for the info ill check it out

Im deciding if i should get a full spectrum or just the ones i listed in the first post. I have to look around because i really like a bluer look so i have to search for pictures to make sure ill like the coloration.

For the price you are going to pay for two PAR 38's, why not just get a "regular" fixture. Check this place out....Build My Led.....I understand you can customize the choice of LED's to get the deep blue you want.

I actually have 2 led fixtures one of which im currently using over the tank but for the ease of hanging it and eventually moving it to my room at college i figured a par 38 would be easier. Unfortunately brand new they are a little expensive but to easily throw it on a gooseneck and clamp it to the rim i figure its worth it.
