Petco - East Hanover, NJ...should be closed down!

I was in Petco in East Hanover last night looking for a 5 gallon tank. I never buy any livestock from there, but I always go and take a look at what they have. I was mortified by what I saw!! There was this Powder Brown Tang with the worst case of Ich ever!!

Also in this tank was a Coral Beauty Angel with Ich....then in the tank below that one where a couple clowns with Ich!!

There was no one around to talk to...of course and I am in the process of writing to Petco to complain. How can any pet store be ok with their livestock looking like that!!!!

IIRC Tangs are very susceptible to ich from stress from shipping. Not that Im sticking up for Petco, now all their livestock has it. Very sad. Wonder what the total damage from Petco alone is around the world...

I know tangs are very susceptible to Ich...but that doesn't mean a store that is going to sell these fish, should not take the proper steps in treating these fish!! The aquarium hobby already has a bad rap...and it's because of big stores like Petco that the fish a dwindling in the wild!!

i seen a few petcos that should be closed down i also seen a purple tang about 4-5 inches big in a 10 gallon tank...just sad the problem is they hire 18 year old kids who know nothing about what they r doing

Here's the email I received back from them:

I guarantee they do nothing

The General manager of the store called me today and left a voicemail asking for me to call him back. I may call him tomorrow.

My aunt filed a complaint with the one over in totowa/little falls on 46. The one lady who works there is a huge bitch and similar to the EH one lots of their fish have ich.

When I first setup my tank I bought a mushroom rock and my clown from them unfortunately.

the petco in east brunswick has nothing but 5 gal tanks that these big fish are kept in---i've seen 3 yellow tangs in 1 -- 5 gal tank--and there's ALWAYS no one around to talk to about this.....
here we are trying to do what we can to preserve fish and these big chain stores house these fish in little tanks...stressing them out so when/if we do buy them, they die on us!!!
