Phyto test run...

So decided to give phytoplankton a go.

Cleaned everything really well, using the starter kit from Mercer of Montana with 32 ounces of nannochloropsis phytoplankton and 8 ounces of Gilliard's formula F2 algae.fertilizrr food.

I split one 16oz bottle between 2 - 2 litter bottles with the rest 1.020 fresh salt mix and 2 ml of F2.
Have a kick ass air pump and some basic led light strip lights.

Hoping it the cultures dont crash.
Fingers crossed.

If anyone has any suggestions, or watchouts, let me know.
Watched a bunch of videos and am doing what I can to merge them hoping for success.

Phyto is pretty simple, its actually hard to go wrong growing it.
Phyto fertilizer or miracle grow, air or no air, grow lights or daylight, buckets or tanks... it will grow given the chance (and a starter).
The pain is keeping it alive, transferring, fertilizing, and cleaning bottles as it grows like the Blob.
I usually give up as by week 5 or so. I take a break for a few days and the whole thing collapses.

I just watched a docu on the old days of pot growing, where these guys were doing it in the wilds in national parks. It was quite interesting and came to a head a few years back with innocent folks getting hurt hiking, as they would run into the booby traps the growers planted (I remember this in the news).
There was a line in the docu, something like - 'The stuff was incredibly easy to grow, you didn't need to do anything. But harvesting it, preparing it, and keeping things going...'

Its the same reason I never went with raising shrimp and why I kept crashing whiteworm colonies.

Seems like the daily flipping in the fridge will even get me.

this is what ive been growing. like others said its pretty easy just bubble and light. the worst part about it is just having a place to set it up.

I’ve been going for a month now and had one crash so far (I think I let it go too long between harvest). Been using an old tractor supply fixture from when we had baby chicks and a Home Depot led bulb.

Jamie, Is that a Day 1 vs Day 7 comparison?
