I have been using the salifert test kits to test my water every few days.
Just wondering does anyone use the Pinpoint monitors. If so how accurate are they? Thanks.
They are very accurate but you have to calibrate them often. You don't really save any time using it. I sold mine. Sold the Nitrate monitor also for the same reason.
Just to add both the nitrate and calcium monitors are very accurate and probably better then most test kits you will come across. They just don't save you time. If you have trouble reading test kits or are color blind they could be worth their weight in gold.
I don't really see the need for the calcium monitor much at all short of being color blind. Calcium is one of these things you just need to be close to an ideal level like 420. If you are off 20 ppm or so from reading the results it's no big deal.
With nitrates if you are striving for low values and what to try and maintain your tank at 5 ppm for example you may want to use the nitrate monitor as it's going to give you more accurate results for the most part. It's much easier to read a digital value then trying to tell if the color is a light pink or pink type thing.
